August 2020 also tied August 2019 for the hottest average monthly maximum temperature ever recorded during the month of August of 103.9°F. The normal average monthly temperature is 97.1°F.
2020's July and August combined monthly average temperatures are an average of 91.55°F, which is 1.75°F greater than last year's July-August combo of 89.8°F, and is first place on the record hottest list. The average monthly annual temperature this year is currently 76.55°F, which is 0.35°F higher than 2000's 76.2°F, and is currently the front-runner for warmest on record.
The average temperature (averaged between daily high and daily low, for a month) was 91.1°F for August 2020. This comes in in second place behind August of 2019, which was 91.6°F. The normal is 86.2°F.
August 2020 recorded the highest ever daily minimum temperature for the month of August on August 28th. 2020, at 84°F. Despite this, there were a few cooler mornings in August 2020, which resulted in Del Rio only claiming third place for the hottest average monthly minimum temperature on record of 79.7°F, behind August 2011 and August 2019. The normal is 75.3°F.
August 2020 tied August 2019 for the number of days in which the minimum temperature never dropped below 80°F, which is a total of 13 days, and is currently the record for the month of August. So far this year, there have been 34 days in which the minimum temperature has not dropped below 80°F, which ties the annual record set in 1998.
As of August 31st, 2020, there have been 79 days at or above 100°F in Del Rio for the year. The most days ever recorded in an entire year in Del Rio at or over 100°F is 85 days, set in 2011.
